Kendrick Recruitment is excited to announce an opening for a Lodge Manager at a prestigious Big 5 game lodge located in the stunning KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa, conveniently situated between Johannesburg and Durban.
Position Overview:
As the Lodge Manager, you will oversee all operations of this well-established game lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and seamless management of staff and resources. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong leadership presence, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily lodge operations and maintain high standards of service across all departments.
Lead, train, and supervise a team of approximately 25 staff members, ensuring a harmonious and productive work environment.
Maintain a guest-centric approach, anticipating needs and facilitating exceptional experiences.
Conduct regular inspections of the property, ensuring it remains immaculate and well-maintained.
Oversee financial management, including budgeting, stock control, and monthly reporting to the non-resident owner/executive members.
Coordinate maintenance schedules and preventative measures for property upkeep, including vehicles, grounds, and infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws (BCEA, LRA) and maintain effective HR practices.
Host guests and maintain strong relationships, ensuring they feel welcome and attended to during their stay.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar role within a 4 to 5-star bush lodge.
Education: Relevant qualifications in hospitality management or a related field are advantageous.
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Afrikaans and Zulu are a plus.
Strong leadership, delegation, and training capabilities.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Computer literate with strong organizational and planning skills.
Experience in managing budgets and financial reporting.
Personal Attributes:
Mature, well-presented, and passionate about hospitality.
Proactive, initiative-driven, and able to lead by example.
High attention to detail and a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
Stable employment history with contactable references and a clean past record.
Package & Benefits:
Salary: Dependent on experience, with live-in accommodation and food provided while on duty.
Leave: 7 days off per month and 21 consecutive days of annual leave.
Bonus: Annual performance-based bonus.
