About the Role
As Safari Manager, you will take charge of delivering a world-class guest safari experience while overseeing all aspects of safari operations. From guiding immersive wildlife experiences to leading and mentoring the safari team, your leadership will set the standard for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Safari Operations Management:
- Manage the safari team, ensuring top-notch performance and adherence to company standards.
- Oversee safari activities, including game drives, bushwalks, and guest interactions.
- Organize and manage vehicle fleet operations and the workshop in coordination with the mechanic.
- Implement training programs to develop and uplift the skills of the safari team.
Guest Experience:
- Conduct guided game drives and interpretive bushwalks to create memorable experiences.
- Host guests during their stay, providing insights into the natural environment and wildlife.
- Set up and manage morning and evening game drive stops, delivering exceptional service.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest queries and requests.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Chair Safari Department meetings and manage departmental budgets.
- Mentor and guide staff, fostering a cohesive and motivated team environment.
- Allocate guest experiences, standby duties, and tracking responsibilities.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure the team maintains high proficiency in weapon handling and safety protocols.
- Adhere to DEAT registration and FGASA standards.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Qualifications: FGASA Level 2 (minimum), PDP, DEAT registration, and First Aid certification.
- Experience: At least 5 years of Big 5 guiding experience. Previous head guide experience is advantageous.
- Skills: Leadership, guest relations, problem-solving, and budget management.
- Attributes: Passionate about guest satisfaction, organized, responsible, and a strong team player.
Working Conditions:
- Cycle: 42 days on, followed by 14 days off (exclusive of 21 days annual leave).
- Live-in accommodation with meals and uniform provided.
Salary & Benefits:
💰 Salary: R15,000 based on experience.
