Kendrick Recruitment is looking for a Sous Chef for an exciting career opportunity to be part of the team at an Award-Winning Restaurant on a Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.
The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Head Chef to orchestrate daily kitchen operations, elevating the dining experience through exceptional leadership, menu preparation, and dedication to food quality.
Steer and guide kitchen staff during the Head Chef’s absence.
Mentor junior kitchen team members in various aspects, including line cooking, food prep, and presentation.
Organize and manage kitchen supplies, ingredients, and stock.
Implement a meticulous first-in, first-out food rotation system, ensuring accurate dating and quality assurance.
Maintain well-stocked cooking stations, especially during peak hours.
Train and evaluate staff performance on the job.
Efficiently handle food and product orders, minimizing waste, and enhancing cost efficiency.
Oversee food preparation and presentation to uphold our restaurant’s quality and standards.
Collaborate with the Head Chef in maintaining kitchen structure, staff development, and training initiatives.
Contribute to menu creation in partnership with the Head Chef.
Vigilantly monitor health and safety protocols.
Manage staff schedules and leave rosters.
Ensure all Chef de Parties are well-informed about weekly and daily reservations, events, and menu specifications.
Conduct thorough quality checks on every dish leaving the kitchen, assessing quantity, presentation, and temperature.
Culinary Diploma, showcasing your culinary expertise.
Ideally, around 4 years of experience in a senior chef role, demonstrating your culinary prowess.
Possession of reliable transportation.
Strong leadership and management capabilities.
Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.
Basic proficiency in essential computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Impeccable written and verbal communication aptitude.
Outstanding organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
Availability to work within our flexible opening hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
