Kendrick Recruitment is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a Head Chef to join our client’s self-catering lodge located in the picturesque Hoedspruit. This lodge is renowned for its exceptional function venue catering to weddings, birthdays, conferences, and more, along with an a la carte restaurant and daily home-style meals.

Position: Head Chef
📍 Location: Hoedspruit
🏘 Accommodation: Provided on-site (includes WiFi & meals when on duty)
💰 Salary: R10,000 – R15,000 per month

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop menus to meet diverse customer needs
• Prepare a la carte dishes for the restaurant
• Create room service menu items for in-house guests
• Cook buffet-style meals for functions up to 150 guests
• Manage food costing and budgeting
• Handle inventory management
• Conduct supplier meetings, price comparisons, and quality checks
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
• Train junior staff and interns
• Assist and direct kitchen staff in meal preparation, creation, plating, and service
• Perform daily cash-ups and reconciliations
• Handle front-of-house duties including guest check-in/out and guest relations
• Manage back-of-house operations in the absence of the General Manager

Skills & Qualifications:

• Initiative and ability to work unsupervised
• Comfortable with training, directing, and supervising kitchen staff
• Exceptional leadership skills, including motivation and goal-setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong time management and organizational abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel skills are non-negotiable)

• Willingness to work flexible and occasionally long hours during functions
• Passion for learning all aspects of kitchen and lodge management
