Kendrick Recruitment is excited to present a Guide Trainer / Assistant Trainer opportunity at a luxury lodge located in the stunning Maun, Botswana. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and qualified field guide looking to step into a training and mentorship role, helping shape the next generation of safari guides in a world-renowned lodge.
What Youโll Do:
Train & Develop Guides: Take on the role of training and mentoring new and current field guides, ensuring they meet the lodgeโs high standards of guest experience and operational excellence.
Conduct Training Sessions: Facilitate training in areas such as bush skills, wildlife knowledge, safety protocols, and guest interaction, ensuring that all trainees meet the required qualifications.
Field Experience: Lead field training, both on foot and in vehicles, ensuring guides develop the skills to confidently manage and educate guests in a variety of bush environments.
Assess & Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and track the progress of trainees, providing constructive feedback and adjusting training strategies as needed.
Contribute to Conservation Efforts: As a guide trainer, promote responsible and sustainable wildlife practices and contribute to the lodgeโs commitment to conservation.
Assist with Advanced Field Guide Training: As a registered and actively pursuing an Advanced Field Guide qualification, assist with higher-level training for experienced guides, facilitating ongoing learning and development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum FGASA NQF4 qualification (essential).
Assistant Trails Guide qualification (essential).
Actively pursuing Advanced Field Guide certification (preferred).
Passionate about nature and wildlife with the ability to communicate this enthusiasm to others.
At least 2-3 yearsโ experience in a field guide role within a Big 5 reserve or similar environment.
Previous experience in guide training or mentorship is a plus.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop others.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and ecology.
Proficiency in First Aid, 4×4 driving, and firearm handling.
Willingness to live in Maun, Botswana, and work in a remote setting.
