Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager for our esteemed hotel client in Cape Town City.
Responsibilities:
Engage with guests in the restaurant, maintain a visible presence, oversee service standards, and ensure guest satisfaction through constant interaction.
Assist in training, mentoring, and managing restaurant staff performance, ensuring high standards are consistently met.
Effectively communicate relevant information to the team, management, and guests.
Coordinate between front-of-house and back-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations.
Assist with planning staff rosters and managing stock control.
Conduct daily cash-ups and communicate any necessary information to other departments or suppliers.
Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations.
Perform general administrative duties, including record-keeping, uniform ordering, email management, guest correspondence, and supplier meetings.
Requirements:
2 – 3 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a restaurant, preferably in a standalone setting.
Confidence in dealing with distinguished clientele.
Good knowledge of food, beverages, dietary requirements, bar, and wine varietals.
Team leadership skills with a focus on training and staff development.
Well-presented with a strong customer service focus.
Quick learner with the ability to master the menu within the first month.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain strong relationships across departments.
Flexibility, accountability, and an enthusiastic personality.
