Minimum Experience and Qualifications Required:
5 years of all-round horticultural experience and general maintenance/project management.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a 4/5* Lodge/Hotel environment in a horticultural management capacity.
Proven understanding of Health and Safety standards and Environmental Impact Controls.
Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Driver’s license (Code 10 with PDP).
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of heavy work.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts.
Key Performance Objectives:
Be a Red Carnation Hotel Ambassador by actively living the company’s mission and values.
Support the Maintenance/General Manager in managing the Gardens Team.
Ensure constant grounds presence during peak operational times.
Oversee training and development of the team members.
Apply performance management and corrective action tools.
Manage day-to-day operations of the Gardens department.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead and supervise the garden team to create a functional, attractive, and productive walled garden.
Ensure proper irrigation in the walled garden at all times.
Execute tasks as directed by the General Manager, ensuring completion to a high standard.
Maintain cleanliness in all work areas and supervise soil cultivation, planting, and landscaping.
Administer daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly Gardens schedules.
Execute special projects assigned from time to time.
