Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a dynamic Executive Chef to join the team at the stunning Lodge in Bhutan. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented culinary professional to lead a world-class kitchen in one of the most beautiful and culturally rich locations in the world.

Position: Executive Chef

Location: Punakha River Lodge, Bhutan
Salary: USD 3,000 per month (market related)
Job Type: Permanent (Live-in)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Hygiene & Standards: Ensure high hygiene standards and maintain the kitchen’s cleanliness and organization. Implement kitchen procedures and maintain top-level operations.
  • Team Development: Train, mentor, and guide chefs, fostering talent.
  • Menu Planning: Develop and design the menu according to the company guidelines, ensuring it aligns with guest preferences, sustainability, and brand standards.
  • Operational Efficiency: Maintain good stock control, oversee food orders, and ensure proper rotation and management of stock. Manage leftover food and ensure minimal wastage.
  • Guest Interaction: Engage with guests to receive feedback, offer culinary experiences, and ensure special dietary requirements are met.
  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership within the kitchen, ensuring that all meals are prepared fresh and to the highest standard. Be a role model for staff in all areas of hospitality and kitchen discipline.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with lodge management, chefs, suppliers, and all team members.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Experience: At least 6+ years of relevant experience in the service industry, particularly in luxury hospitality, food preparation, and kitchen management.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with both guests and fellow staff members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and train a kitchen team, with a focus on developing skills and ensuring high levels of motivation.
  • Creativity: A passion for creating exceptional food experiences, with a strong understanding of food styling and culinary trends.
  • Knowledge: A deep understanding of the hospitality industry, local communities, and the surrounding environment. Knowledge of &Beyond’s values and commitment to sustainability is essential.
  • Educational Requirements: A Chef’s Diploma or Degree (mandatory for expat applicants due to work permit regulations).

Additional Requirements:

  • Adherence to World Class Hospitality and service standards.
  • Ability to think laterally and take initiative in all aspects of kitchen and guest service operations.
  • Honesty, integrity, and drive with career ambitions in hospitality.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to create memorable dining experiences, including bush banqueting, picnics, and drink stops.
  • A passion for culinary excellence and the guest experience.
