Venue Sales Manager – Events and Catering Company – Johannesburg

Kendrick Recruitment is working with a well-established events and catering company in Johannesburg, this company is known for its 5* standards and exclusive events offerings. We are now seeking a Venue Sales Manager to join this elite team. Salary on offer for this position will depend on experience and qualifications, but can range between R35 000 – R50 000 (on target earning).

 

The ideal Venue Sales Manager will have experience in venue sales with a strong track record of achieving/exceeding targets, experience in successfully engaging key decision makers, closing the sale and building long-term relationships. Experience in managing a team is desirable, although this could be an entry level management position for the right candidate.  We require a candidate who is keen to make a mark whilst generating maximum benefit and revenue to the business.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrable experience of generating revenue and exceeding financial targets
  • Experience of forecasting sales and working to targets
  • Commercially aware with a good knowledge of the Johannesburg/Sandton venue market
  • Ability to work within a team while being self-motivated
  • Excellent time management skills
  • To have excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where

required. Out of hours’ client entertainment may also be a part of the role

  • Well presented, with excellent customer service skills and awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all

levels across the organization and externally with clients

  • Tech savvy and computer literate with experience of using
  • Proactively drive revenue and increase volume of business at the venue through effective

client relationships and sustained sales initiatives.

  • Have full product knowledge of the venue and ability to cross sell all aspects of the business
  • Undertake sales calls and increase awareness of the venue to build relationships with new

clients and ensure retention and improving potential of existing client relationships.

  • Be involved in the setting of department targets and objectives, and to be fully aware of the

venue’s financial targets/results as a whole.

  • Continuously research new potential clients / organizations and carry out show rounds
  • Attend networking events, both trade and social, as the representative for the venue.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in similar industry.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Relevant industry knowledge.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Excellent financial awareness.
